Gas Kiln Firing 6/10/19. Top Shelf Before and after firing.

This is a story on my journey on firing my pottery in my Gas Kiln at home.

Cost of my Glaze  firings are about $30.00 a time.

Hear is the results of my gas firing 6/10/19.

The two pots that are a clay colour, the glaze is call retile blue with iron oxide.

The other four pots has a glaze call Duck Egg Blue. All my firing with this glaze have came out with bad results. The results are not bad this time around.

Top Shelf. All OK. I got result with one of my glazers. Kept reading to find out about one of glaze I did not like.

The Rutile Blue Glaze is looking good.

When firing we do not do the full reduction. That is why there is more brown than blue in this glaze.

This is the glaze, that I have had some bad redults.

It is call duck egg blue. Not nice by it self, I have been adding other minerals to get better results. The two pots above I have Alumina Calcined sprayed on, I only gave it one spray, next time I will give it two coats of Alumina Calcined Spray. The second vase with the lines, has a nice colour. Here is more of the same glaze, on the top shelf.

More Pictures.

This Glaze is shown some pinky/cream shades.

This top shelf I am happy with will be able to sell pieces of pottery to get some of my cost back, so I can kept going making pottery and firing pottery.

Firing My Gas Kiln 30/09/19. Bottom Shelf. My Pottery Journey.

Bottom Shelf of my Kiln.

Yes it came out Ok.  Some of the colours burnt out .

This plate had orange marks. Came out with brown marks.

Plate only had clear glaze over the top. Could of had more Underglaze to make it a bit brighter.

Cobalt Carbonate lines, Clear Glaze over top. Nice can use the cobalt next time with better marks, drawnings.

Retile Blue Glaze, Came out brown. Kilm was not hot enough.

Cobalt Carb mixed in a  base glaze painted thick on out side. Clear Glaze over top.

Underglaze Black. Clear Glaze over top. Boring dish.

This shelf was a bit disapointing. The colour changed.

I know it is to do with temperature on the shelf .

The right was to hot the colour burnt. The plate at the back turned brown had orange underglaze and the small plate at the front turn brown. Had a retile blue glaze, should of been blue.

Well until next Gas firing.
